Dogs love Reiki.
Animals, in general, love Reiki. Dogs, especially large dogs, who want to begin Reiki, seem to like to lie down and receive it slowly on their own.
It is the same with any animal, but some Reiki schools seem to say that animals are treated by touch in the same way as people, and there seems to be an assumption in the West that this is correct.
But most of the time it does not work, especially for animals receiving Reiki for the first time.
First, create a space for Reiki at a distance from the animal, then enter it and begin to relax, and apply your hand once the animal accepts Reiki. If the animal is sensitive and does not want you to put your hands on it, you can move about an inch away from its body, and in my experience, this often works better.

My own training was conducted in a dog run. So, the dogs were there to play. It is extremely difficult to give healing to dogs in play mode. They are not on leashes and are full of energy.
